The haldi ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding Indian ceremony. Turmeric (haldi), water, and oil are applied to both the bride and groom to purify, cleanse and bless the couple. This is a great day for a beach day! We recommend bringing or wearing your bathing suits and joining us on the beach afterwards.
Shuttles will begin to depart from the hotel to the Beach House at 9:30am (5 min ride). You can also opt to travel earlier have breakfast at the Beach House prior to the event.
A traditional South Indian brunch will be provided.
Attire: Casual (bathing suits and coverups!) or Indian Casual (a great day for white, yellow or orange)
Mehndi
6:00 - 10:00pm
Rio Bhongo Pool
The Mehndi (henna) ceremony is another traditional pre-wedding ceremony, in which the bride (and her guests) will have mehndi applied to their hands and feet (or wherever!). Mehndi signifies the bond of matrimony and represents the love & affection between the couple and their families

Friday, November 18
Sunset Cruise
3:30 - 5:30pm
Transportation to Marina:
3pm
A catamaran will pick us up at the marina near the hotel (5 mins away) for a sunset cruise around the Peninsula. Appetizers, snacks and drinks will be served.
Buses will begin to depart from the hotel at 3:00pm (please be on time)
Sangeet
6:00 - 10:00pm
Jardin (Tent)
Sangeet means music! This event his held before Indian weddings and is full of music, dancing (expect choreographed numbers), and bright colors.
Attire: Indian or Cocktail (the tent will be air-conditioned). If you would like to wear traditional Indian clothes for one of the nights, then this would be the night to do it! See the FAQ section for links to Indian websites.

Baraat

A baraat is the groom's procession to the wedding. Escort Pat to the mandap (altar) with music and dancing!
Shuttles will begin to depart from the lobby to the Beach House at 1:40pm (5 min ride).
Attire: Traditional Indian or Beach Formal. This event will be on the beach. Please take note of the temperature and dress comfortably.

TRANSPORTATION
We will be providing transportation for all guests from LIR to the resort and return transportation for those leaving on Sunday, November 20th only. Transportation will be coordinated by Destination Experts DMC. We will group parties together based on flight arrival times.
Once you have booked your flight, please click on the link below and provide us with your flight details. A member of DMC will reach out to you to confirm your transportation details.
For those of you extending your stay at the Andaz past November 20th, please also input your departure details on the departures tab. We will coordinate transportation for you. The departure van costs $80 and individual pricing will depend on how many guests we can group together based on departure times.
LIR is only a 30-45 minute drive from the Andaz.
TRAVEL
We recommend flying into Liberia airport (LIR), which is only 30 minutes from the resort. We will be coordinating transportation from this airport. Once you have booked your flight please click the "Reserve" link under the Transportation section to confirm your flight details and coordinate pick-up.
There are numerous options from the States. However, COVID has reduced routes across all airlines and current gas prices have increased costs. We recommend using websites and apps like Google Travel, Kayak.com and Hopper to determine the best time to purchase flights
As an FYI, the first event on Wednesday begins at 5:30pm.

FAQs
I can only come to some events is that okay?
Absolutely! We understand that this is a big time commitment. We'd love to have you for any events that are possible. Just let us know when you RSVP, which events you are planning to attend.
Can I bring my kids?
We love your kids! However, please understand that kids are only invited if named on the invitation.
How do I get to the hotel?
You will need to fly into Liberia (LIR) airport. From there, we will coordinate transportation to bring you to the hotel. Please confirm your flight details under the Transportation section, so we can confirm your pick-up times.
Do you have a room block?
Yes! See the accommodations section of our website and follow the "Book Hotel" link to see our discounted rates (no code needed). The discounted rate is available from November 13 - 23rd.
Are there any Covid-19 Restrictions?
As always, we are monitoring COVID and want to ensure the health of all of our guests. At this time there are no restrictions to enter Costa Rica or return to the US.
Can I fly into SJO?
While there are many flights to SJO, this airport is 5+ hours away and we will not be providing transportation from this airport. For ease and comfort we ask everyone to travel to LIR.
Where are you registered?
Pat and I have made a beautiful home together over the last 9 years. Your presence is all we need.
I would love to wear Indian Clothes to some events. Where can I buy them?
There are a lot of websites online to purchase Indian clothes. We recommend Kalki Fashion, fabindia, Utsav Fashion, House of Indya to name a few
